Obturator hernia is rare disease with less than 600 reported cases in the world. It is important because its high rate of strangulation and the lack of prompt preoperatively diagnosis leading to lethal consequence.
The diagnosis of obturator hernia is clinically difficult because of its rarity, deep anatomical location, infrequent nonspecific signs and symptoms.
Computed tomography(CT) is valuable in the diagnosis of variety of obturator hernia by demonstraing the hernial sac between the obturator externus muscle and pectineus muscle.
Resently, we experienced one case of strangulated obturator hernia of Richter's type in 71 years old woman. So reported it with brief review of literature.
